The Purple Glasses

US - Director: Susan Sullivan

Set in the late 80's during middle school, The Purple Glasses explores the fun and newfound freedom that this age brings along with the emotions of it all. A precocious young student, Emily loses her glasses shortly after a fight with her cool-girl classmate Sara. Sara is left with a decision that brings her to a new realization. The story involves a twist of fate that brings the two middle school girls together.

A shy schoolgirl, Dielleza, arrives by train to a rural town where she is to stay with her unfriendly aunt. Haunted by nightmares, she constantly worries about her sick grandmother back home. While her aunt is at work, Dielleza is left with a free-spirited teenage girl, Vani. The rebellious Vani and Dielleza develop an unlikely but close friendship.
