Portrait of a Disappearing Woman

France - Director: Nelson Polfliet

Worn out by everyday routine, fifty-nine-year-old fishmonger Sabine decides to leave her fish shop and venture into the world outside of her countryside village. Her quickest escape, the village school bus, brings her to the Museum of Royal Arts in Ghent, where a museum audio guide helps her find the elevation she unknowingly sought.

Safari Club

Poland - Director: Zuzanna Szyszak

"Safari Club" is a place where partygoers can cut loose, run wild, and display animalistic behavior. A girl gets ready to go out hunting and is about to have the wildest night out of her life, in every sense of "wild".

Maize

US - Director: Corsica Wilson

Set in 1911 at an autumn festival, a neurotic young woman tries to forcefully rekindle a friendship through childhood traditions and struggles with rejection.

Mångata

Germany - Director: Maja Costa

Little Alya and her father are crossing the Mediterranean Sea on a boat that takes them from Africa to Europe in search of a safe place to call home. Tragically, the boat sinks. Thanks to Mångata—“the road to the moon”—the rescuers spot Alya, the sole survivor. Many years later, we find her again as an astronaut on an important lunar mission. In the middle of the mission, a technical communication problem isolates Alya from the base. This is when she has an encounter that teaches her how Mångata, which already saved her life once, will now help her overcome her past trauma.

Safe

UK - Director: Debbie Howard

Anne an office cleaner, finishes work late one evening to be pursued and harassed by a man at the bus stop.

Last Call

UK - Director: Harry Holland

A woman swings open the door to a smokey pub. This is Kate, and she’s looking for someone. After navigating her way through the eclectic mix of patrons, she spots him - a teenage boy, Charlie - her son. There’s an obvious void - too long has passed between them to allow for casual conversation. As Kate and Charlie are forced to retrace their history - Kate will finally have the chance to ask the questions that have haunted her past, and will decide her future.

Barely Breathing

US - Director: Derek Evans

Barely Breathing is a dark comedy about Sai, who is guilted into moving in with his father and stepmother after nearly dying in an embarrassing autoerotic asphyxiation (AEA) accident. To get his dad off his back, Sai begins “hanging” with an AEA support group filled with loveable misfits but humor can only hide so much. As Sai begins to get comfortable, the distance between him and his father grows deeper in the lingering chasm left behind by the death of Sai’s mother ten years prior.
